The Basics: Note20 vs S21 Ultra 5G

DESIGN

Unconventionally but not regrettably, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has sharp corners while the Galaxy S21 Ultra has a more conventional shape with rounded corners. A plus for many people, the Note has a wider screen than most phones, which makes looking at content or streaming very enjoyable. The S21 Ultra is also a bit thicker than the Note Ultra but the Note Ultra is noticeably larger than the S21 Ultra.
In addition, the S21 Ultra can be used with the new S Pen. Though the pen doesn’t attach to the phone like the Note does. It is available separately but does fit inside some cases.

DISPLAY

Both phones have similar, exciting display quality, having OLED Technology, 120Hz refresh rate capability and HDR support features. The resolution on the S21 is 1440 x 3200 pixels and on the Note its 1440 x 3088 pixels.
The S21 Ultra has a feature where it has the highest screen brightness capability than any other smartphone, making it very easy to see on a bright and sunny day.
The QHD resolution that both phones support offer amazing display detail. But on the Note, you can’t use the maximum resolution while also using the 120Hz refresh rate, while on the S21 you can. Tests show that the S21 Ultra has higher display quality capability between brightness and color.
When it comes to fingerprint recognition, the S21 Ultra has a much faster and more responsive processor that makes unlocking easier and quicker.

CAMERA

The longest range zoom on a Galaxy phone, the S21 Ultra has a 10X Zoom Telephoto Lens, with 100X zoom capability. There is also a second zoom telephoto lens. Both lenses have camera stabilization which makes capturing great images easier, even if your hands are a bit shaky.
There is a huge improvement in low light camera quality; Scene Optimizer, which both phones have. This setting works best on the S21 Ultra because it uses a better exposure when necessary.
On the S21 Ultra, you can film 8K Video at 24 frames per second. When filming in 8K, you can later screenshot frames and get the image quality you would if you would’ve taken a photo. The camera also has a crisp, super detailed auto focus system.

BATTERY

The S21 Ultra has a bigger battery than the Note Ultra. The S21 Ultra has a 5,000mAh battery while the Note Ultra has a 4,500mAh battery. PhoneArena did some tests and found that the S21 Ultra’s battery performed significantly better. While at a refresh rate of 120Hz, it lasted 14 hours and 43 minutes in a web browsing test. Another test found that while streaming at 1080p, the S21 Ultra once again beat the Note 20 Ultra.
Both phones can charge Wirelessly and have power sharing capability. So you can actually use your phone to charge another Galaxy phone, headphones, or watch.
The S21 Ultra does take longer to charge than the Note 20 Ultra. The S21 takes about an hour and a half to charge, while the Note 20 Ultra takes about an hour.
