Predicted Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Specs

Are you ready for the first major smartphone launch of the year?

South Korean technology giant Samsung recently announced their latest Galaxy Unpacked event, a biannual celebration that showcases the company's newest launches. Last year's event featured the Galaxy S24 series, including the Plus and Ultra models, as well as a preview of the Galaxy Ring fitness tracker.

But tech enthusiasts were most excited about the announcement of Galaxy AI features, which represented Samsung's venture into the world of artificial intelligence.

The first Unpacked event of 2025 is expected to see upgrades to these features on the newest range of Samsung phones: the Galaxy S25. This includes the Galaxy S25 Ultra, the premium model of the line-up.

With the launch date just days away, rumors continue to fly about the technical specifications of the new Ultra device, including a major upgrade to the Snapdragon processor. Keep reading to find out what we know so far and what you can expect when investing in the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Processor

The first, and perhaps most exciting, spec upgrade for Galaxy S fans to get excited about is the S25 Ultra's new processor: the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

The 8 Elite is Qualcomm's highest-quality chipset yet, with 6 powerful cores and a 45% performance boost that could compete with Apple's A-series chips. This includes increased AI performance, which is great news for Galaxy AI.

Users will be able to enjoy faster AI processing, boosted graphics, studio-quality sound, and smoother scrolling.

Battery

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra battery is expected to share the same 5,000 mAh capacity as its predecessor.

However, the rumored inclusion of the Snapdragon 8 Elite will provide 44% greater power efficiency. This means that the S25 Ultra will have a longer battery life before needing to be charged, contributing to overall power savings of 27%.

3-in-1 Wireless Charging Station

Qi wireless charging may also feature on the device, with faster 25W charging speeds alongside 45W wired charging. Qi2 is a system similar to Apple's MagSafe, which offers secure and fast wireless charging using a series of powerful magnets.

Design and Display

The Galaxy S24 Ultra's 6.8-inch display is already pretty large. But at 6.86 inches, rounded up to 6.9 for marketing purposes, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra looks set to rival Apple's iPhone 16 Pro Max in terms of screen size.

Another key change comes from the notebook design of previous Galaxy S models. Soft, rounded corners that offer a more comfortable look could replace the sharp rectangular sides and flat top and bottom. The S25 Ultra is also likely to be slightly smaller and lighter.

Although nothing has yet been confirmed, a recent leak suggests the Ultra will keep the same strong titanium frame and be available in the following colorways:

  • Titanium Black

  • Titanium Gray

  • Titanium Silver Blue

  • Titanium White Silver

Samsung may also offer online-exclusive colors if it follows the same pattern as previous years, but these designs haven't yet been revealed.

Cameras

While the base Galaxy S25 and Plus models are expected to keep a similar camera setup, the S25 Ultra may feature a few changes to enhance photo quality.

First up is the Ultra Wide camera, which rumours suggest could be upgraded from 12 to 50 MP in the S25 Ultra. This would allow you to capture sharper, more detailed images and crop them without getting that pixelated look.

However, the current S24 Ultra is one of the best phones for photography on the market. So, we're likely to see the same 200 MP Main camera, 50 MP and 10 MP Telephoto lenses, and 12 MP front-facing selfie camera with the newer device.

Other rumored features include new photographic styles like those offered by the iPhone 16 camera, which customize the tone and warmth of your photos. These software improvements would be facilitated by Galaxy AI and the upgraded Snapdragon chipset – another huge benefit of Qualcomm's exciting new processor!

Galaxy S25 Ultra Specs: Are They Worth the Upgrade?

In terms of cost, the whole Galaxy S25 series is expected to see a price hike due to the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and greater manufacturing expenses. This could increase starting prices by around 20%, putting the S25 Ultra at $2,260 compared to the S24 Ultra's $2,199. If you're a Galaxy S fan or a smartphone enthusiast, this may be a small price to pay for a worthwhile investment.

The Galaxy S24 series saw a double-digit increase in pre-orders compared to the S23, mainly due to the exciting new Galaxy AI features. 65% of these buyers chose the premium Ultra model.

A larger screen, lighter frame, upgraded camera, and new chipset could mean that the Galaxy S25 Ultra experiences the same hype when pre-orders open on around January 24th.

If you do decide to upgrade, proper protection is crucial to maintaining the condition and lifespan of your S25 Ultra. That's where shockproof phone cases come in!
